In the modern era, the real problem isn’t taking photos with our phone – it’s about managing them effectively. Google aims to ease this thing by introducing powerful sets of AI tools in Google Photos.

So, if you use Google Photos for photo management, check out these six new ways you can use AI to edit, create, and search in Google Photos.

1. The ‘Help Me Edit’ feature

Google Photos now supports photo editing with AI text prompts. This basically means editing photos is now as simple as telling it what you want.

You can describe your changes – like ‘remove the sunglasses’, ‘open my eyes’, etc. Google Photos uses images from your private face groups to generate personalized, accurate edits of people in your photo library.

2. Redesigned Photo Editor on iOS

Google is bringing a redesigned Google Photos editor to iOS, so you can edit via simple gestures, one-tap suggestions, and now, natural language.

The ‘Help me edit’ feature is expanding to iOS users in the United States. So, you can now describe edits to the AI using voice or just text inputs.

3. Create Image Restyle with Nano Banana

Google integrated its Nano Banana image editing model into Google Photos’ editor, allowing you to transform your images creatively.

You can request a specific style you want to see. For example, you can ask Photos to paint you as a Renaissance portrait, restyle an image as a mosaic mode of colorful tiles, etc.

You can even ask the AI to turn your photo into a page from a children’s storybook. The possibilities are endless.

4. Reimagine your photos with AI templates

Google Photos now includes a new ‘Create with AI’ section in the Create tab on Android for users in the US and India.

The ‘Create with AI’ section offers ready-made AI templates, all powered by Nano Banana.

The templates basically let you generate popular edits instantly, without writing any prompts.

5. The new Ask Photos feature

Ask Photos is an AI feature that serves as a smart search tool. With this feature, you can find specific pictures from your gallery just by describing them.

You just need to type what you are looking for, and Google Photos will pull up the most relevant images for you.

This new feature will be rolling out to more than 100 new countries and regions, and in 17 new languages.

6. The new ‘Ask’ button

Ask Photos and the new ‘Ask’ button is different. The new ‘Ask’ button lets you do more with an image.

You can just tap on it to quickly get answers about what’s in the image, pull up related moments from your library, or describe edits you want – and watch the changes appear within seconds.

These are the 6 new things you can do with AI in Google Photos. Most of these features are rolling out now. Make sure to update the Google Photos app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
