Meta has been focusing more on improving the WhatsApp experience. Recently, WhatsApp introduced several new features that are designed to make group conversations easier to manage.
The new group chat features now include enhanced polls, @all mentions, and a quicker way to create new chats from an existing group. Let’s take a closer look at these new features.
1. Improved Polls
The new update brings enhanced polls. Basically, WhatsApp has made group polls more useful with three new improvements.
Users can now set an end time for a poll, after which voting will automatically close. Also, there’s an option to hide the voter names.
Another thing is that if a user has made a mistake while creating a poll, WhatsApp will allow them to edit the poll question within 15 minutes of posting it.
2. @all Mentions
This one is already seen on Facebook groups. The same feature is now made available for WhatsApp groups. Basically, the new @all mention will notify everyone in a group with a single message.
This @all mention eliminates the need to tag members one by one. The new feature could be very useful if you have a busy group chat and want to urgently announce something.
However, in groups with more than 32 members, only admins can use the @all. The @all feature can also alert members who have the group chat muted.
3. Create Chats from Existing Groups
This is another very useful feature that lets you create a new group chat using members from an existing group. This eliminates the need to manually add everyone to the newly created group.
You can just start a new group chat with people from an existing one in just a single tap. This feature could be useful if you want to split off into a side conversation to plan a surprise party, coordinate event logistics, etc.
How to Use these new features?
All of these features are now rolling out to every WhatsApp user. To enjoy these new features, you just need to update the WhatsApp app for Android and iOS.
Once updated, you can coordinate with your groups, alert the whole chat with a single mention, and create chats from existing groups.
