Netflix has rolled out Spatial Audio for all devices in collaboration with Sennheiser, but it seems it is currently limited to the selected content. Let’s discuss all details.
The streaming giant has introduced many new features in the past months, and with the big success of its popular show, it announced a new feature to enhance your audio experience.
Spatial Audio Is Now Available for Stranger Things & More Originals
You might be wondering now have to buy any new devices for listening to this special audio, so no, you don’t have to buy any new Spatial supported devices; as Netflix said, it doesn’t matter on which device you are watching.
The Spatial Audio functionality will provide an immersive surround sound experience to Netflix subscribers, especially on all devices. But, headphones are required to listen to a TV show or movie.
The company wrote in its official blog, “Netflix spatial audio helps to translate the cinematic experience of immersive audio to any stereo, so the work creators do to bring you into the story happens no matter what device you use to watch Netflix”.
To make it possible, the company has worked with well know audio devices company Sennheiser, which converts the regular surround stereo into expansive spatial audio.
This format is called Ambeo 2-Channel and can be played through stereo speakers or headphones. Dolby Atmos audio tracks are also available for the selected content.
Besides, Netflix has recently also confirmed that it is working on a cheaper subscription plan, so we might see this feature cut out, not confirmed by the company but expected.
For keeping this feature highlighted currently, it is limited to Netflix’s original shows & movies, but you can watch some great titles such as Stranger Things, Red Notice, The Witcher, and more.
To find content that supports Spatial Audio, you have to search “spatial audio” in the search bar.
